2002 USTA NATIONAL OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS
USTA National Tennis Center - Flushing Meadows, New York

The boys battled it out today in a serve and volley contest for the singles title. The long holiday weekend came to a close at the USTA National Tennis Center as No. 3 seeded Christopher Racz edged past the twelth seed, Justin Salkin. Christopher came back after losing the first set 6-1 to pull the second out 6-2. He finally prevailed in the tiebreaker, 11-9.

There were multiple two title winners today and both of them were New Yorkers. Alex Vasin, who trains at the Tennis Center, took third place in the singles and shared the doubles trophy with Adam El Mihdawy. Adam, from nearby Long Island City, was also a finalist in the Feed-In Consolation.

Alex Vasin finished in third place after defeating Isaac Kalo in the playoffs.
