Missouri State University will eliminate five of its 21 sports, inlcuding men's and women's tennis. The cut will take place at the end of this school year.

After Hurricane Katrina forced them to move to Texas A&M and the school subsequently cancelled tennis for next year, the Tulane teams have decided not to play the Spring 2006 season.

Peter Smith, men's head coach at the University of Southern California, spent his winter break playing tennis. Coach Smith took the title -- with six straight set victories -- at the USTA National Hard Court Championships.

* * *

Coaching Changes... Larry Hubbard, former Liberty University administrator and coach, has been named as the interim men's and women's coach at the University of North Carolina-Asheville... Max Fomine has returned to his roots at Mississippi State. He will be working as the Assistant Coach for the women's team... Georgetown coach Rich Bausch has resigned, citing personal reasons. No replacement has been named.
