WOMEN'S USTA/ITA INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Stanford, the No. 2 ranked team in the nation, edged out No. 6 Illinois for the USTA/ITA National Men's Indoor Championships. This is a record 12th title for Stanford and represents the twelfth time in as many years that the title was won by either Stanford or UCLA. The victory was fittingly clinched by the country's top-player, K.J. Hippensteel -- pictured right.

This year's USTA Sportsmanship Award went to Stanford junior David Martin. David was chosen by the 16 participating coaches for "displaying outstanding sportsmanship and exemplifying the spirit of college tennis during the course of the tournament." He was 3-0 at No. 3 singles and 2-1 at No. 1 doubles during the tournament.
