UCLA's Benjamin Kohlloeffel and Miami's Audra Cohen have been named the 2006 ITA Players of the Year. Alice Barnes & Anne Yelsey of Stanford and Kevin Anderson & Ryan Rowe of Illinois were named ITA Doubles Teams of the Year. Kevin followed his NCAA doubles title with two more trophies from USTA Pro Circuit events. He also made the singles finals of the Woodland event. * * *
Georgia Tech sophomore Kristi Miller has been chosen as the nation's top collegiate female athlete by the Collegiate Women Sports Awards. The program is now in its 30th year. * * *
Paul Xanthos, who coached at Pierce College for nearly 30 years, passed away this month. He was 85 years old. * * *
The Professional Tennis Registry has launched the PTR on Campus program to encourage students (aged 16-23) to consider part-time jobs and full-time careers teaching tennis. Coaching Changes...Francis Baxter has retired from the University of Central Oklahoma after 36 years as head coach... Former Notre Dame star player Michelle Dasso has been named as the new women's coach for the University of Illinois. She had been working as an Assistant at Notre Dame and takes over for Sujay Lama, who is the new women's coach at North Texas... Erica Perkins has left her Assistant position at William & Mary to take over as the women's Head Coach at Michigan State... Northwestern Assistant Arvid Swan is the new Head Men's Coach at DePaul... Former four time All-American Tobias Huning has been hired as the Assistant Coach for the University of Memphis men's team... * * *
