Illinois' sophomore GD Jones became the first player in the history of the event to win the Air Pacific Oceania Closed Junior Championships two years in a row.

Avery Ticer of Minnesota and North Carolina's Kendall Cline were named this year's ITA Summer Circuit Players of the Year. Avery won the ITA National Summer Championships as well as two titles on the Circuit. Kendall picked up three singles and two doubles wins and was a quarterfinalist at the National Championships. The ITA Collegiate Summer Circuit had a record breaking 2,067 players participate this summer.

The 2004 ITA Achievement Award, presented by Montblanc, will be given this year to Dr. George Fareed. Dr. Fareed was captain of the California team when he played there in the 1960s. He is now an accomplished physician working on genetic engineering and technology. He has also been a US Davis Cup team doctor (1991-98; 2000-03). Dr. Fareed will be honored at a reception hosted by Tennis Week.
