John Isner had an phenomenal transition from college tennis to professional tennis. After winning the Thompson Buick-Pontiac-GMC Championships in California and advancing to the final of the Legg Mason in Washington, he took the U.S. Open by storm, winning two rounds and taking a set from Roger Federer.

Coaching Changes...Amanda Augustus, who won two NCAA titles playing for the University of California, has taken over as that school's head women's coach... Ronnie Bernstein is the new women's coach at the Michigan... Former Duke player Kelly McCain has been named the team's assistant coach... Per Nilsson has returned to Mississippi State as the new men's coach... George Husack has left Santa Clara University to become the new men's assistant at Illinois... After eight seasons with the UCLA men's team as assistant head coach, Jason Scheer is now leading his own program at Loyola Marymount... David McNamara is back at Middle Tennessee as the head coach.
