November 2004

The ITF Junior schedule is winding down and in October featured the Grade A Mayor's Cup World Super Junior Championships. The event, held in Osaka, was a showcase for the best juniors in the world. Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark won the girls singles title with a 6-3,6-0 victory over the Slovak Republic's Dominika Cibuilkova. The girls doubles title stayed in the tournament's home country as Megumi Fukui and Kaor Maezawa had the win in the finals over Michelle Brycki and Shayna Dowell of Australia, 6-3,2-6,6-4. On the boys side, it was the top two seeds in the finals with the No. 2 Woong-Sun Jun winning, 6-1,7-6 over fellow Korean Sun-Yong Kim. The two then paired for the doubles trophy after they eliminated Myles Blake of Great Britain and Abdullah Magdas of Kuwait, 6-4,4-6,6-4.
