This year's winners of the Bill Talbert Junior Sportsmanship Award will be honored during the induction ceremonies of the International Tennis Hall of Fame in July. They are: Jeremy Efferding, Ryan Lipman, Ryan Thacher and Gary Wang.

As Furman defeated Yale (6-1), men’s tennis Coach Paul Scarpa made history. Coach Scarpa, with 45 years of coaching behind him, became the winningest coach in college tennis with his 820th victory.

The Bryan Brothers win at the Davis Cup match not only secured the semifinal berth for the United States, it broke the record (held by Peter Flemming & John McEnroe) for most Davis Cup wins by a doubles team. Bob & Mike Bryan were NCAA champions while at Stanford.

Former Vanderbilt player Julie Ditty paired with Liezel Huber in doubles to defeat Argentina's Betina Jozami & Gisela Dulko, 6-2,6-3, and give the Americans a 3-2 win. The United States advanced to the Fed Cup semifinals and will play the Czech Republic on April 25th.

Nineteen year old Beth Kushner, a former player at Keuka, was one of the victims of the Continental flight near Buffalo. Beth attended Keuka during the 2007-08 season and helped her team to a third place finish at the NEAC Championships.

Longtime Southern California Coach George Toley worked with sportwriter Joe Jares to write The Golden Age of College Tennis: A USC Coach’s Unique Contributions to the Game. The book chronicles the impressive career of the late Toley, who led USC to 10 NCAA Championships. It was published by The Americas Group and can be purchased from Amazon.com.

The United States Tennis Association named University of Georgia men's Coach Manny Diaz the 2008 USOC National Coach of the Year for Tennis. The award is selected by the nomination of the Olympic and Pan American sport organizations.
