At the Adidas Tennis Classic in Atlanta, Georgia, Luduvic Walter of Duke defeated Matt Scott of Notre Dame in the men's final, 6-1,6-3. Alexis Gordon of Florida took the women's singles over Duke's Amanda Johnson, 6-3,6-4. Doubles were cancelled due to bad weather.

Notre Dame completed the Crowne Plaza Invitional with a perfect 11-0 record on the final day of play. The Irish were winners in three of four singles flights and one doubles.

Wake Forest's Karin Coetzee was a Flight A singles and doubles winner (with Aimee Smith) at the Virginia Tech Invitational.

Tigran Martirosyan of Kentucky defeated Andreas Lauland of Virginia Tech, 6-3,3-6,6-4, in the finals of the Charles Fluitt Invitational.

San Diego State University has budgeted $750,000 for a new structure at the Aztecs Tennis Center to include new coaches offices and locker rooms. The school is looking for additional funding to complete the project.

Coaching Changes...After 17 NCAA Championships over 37 seasons, Stanford's Dick Gould has announced his retirement from coaching. Among the players that Coach Gould has coached to notoriety are John & Patrick McEnroe, Bob & Mike Bryan, Gene Mayer and Roscoe Tanner. Longtime Assistant Coach John Whitlinger will take over the Cardinals next fall.

Brian Kalbas is the new women's coach at North Carolina... Gene Carswell took over the men's team at San Diego State... Kevin Epley is leading the women of William & Mary... Eduardo Provencio is now in charge of both teams at Texas-Pan American...
